The global energy sector is experiencing a digital revolution that is transforming infrastructure, efficiency, and sustainability. In Uzbekistan, efforts to modernize the energy sector have included renewable energy initiatives and international partnerships. However, digitalization remains unevenly implemented. Despite progress, limited research has addressed the specific barriers and opportunities of digitalizing energy projects in the Uzbek context, especially considering local infrastructure and workforce challenges. This study aims to identify the core challenges and opportunities in the digitalization of energy projects in Uzbekistan and provide policy-relevant recommendations. The analysis revealed that technological infrastructure gaps, financial limitations, skilled labor shortages, cybersecurity risks, and legal constraints are major hindrances. Nevertheless, digital technologies—especially smart grids, IoT, and AI—offer measurable benefits such as a 15–20% increase in energy production efficiency and improved renewable integration. By combining qualitative interviews, case studies, and statistical analysis, this research provides a comprehensive SWOT-based assessment tailored to Uzbekistan's context. The findings support the development of a robust national digital energy strategy that emphasizes infrastructure investment, educational reforms, and international cooperation to enhance sustainability and competitiveness in the global energy market.
