Administrators’ Effective Management of School-Community Relations: A Strategic Tool for National Development

This paper examined the effective management of school community relationship as an instrument for national development. Schools are established in communities from where they draw their life blood, which supports it with human and material resources. For effective management of school community relations, the school-head has to devise some strategies to be used. It is a known fact that on the operation and management of a school, administrators are needed for efficient running as well as the achievement of set goals. This paper ex-rayed literature and established the variables that are strategic for the management of school-community relationship, such as, concept of school administration, concept of school-community relationship, school Administrators and administration. Others include, administrative strategy of school-heads, role of school administrators in the maintenance of school-community relationship- the head teacher, the principal and the vice chancellor. The study concluded that a robust school-community is a necessary instrument for national development. The study concluded that, in most states of Nigeria, the potentials of good school community relationship is yet to be fully harnessed.
