The article discusses the potential of human capital development as the main engine of economic growth. It notes the importance of improving the quality of intellectual resources in the development of innovative economy in Uzbekistan. The author has studied the concepts of human capital development and highlighted the main concepts and categories. Particular attention is paid to the human capital index of Uzbekistan.
