The greatest threat to our marriages is selfishness. Selfishness is often disguised as confidence, bravado, pride, and drive. Marriage exposes how selfish we truly are. We are all married to a self-centered spouse. Selfishness in marriage can be detrimental to the relationship. It will hinder you from becoming one with your spouse, as God intended. A successful marriage requires mutual respect, understanding, compromise, and consideration for each other's needs and feelings. This paper introduces the reader to the effects of selfishness in marriage and how they can be overcome..
