Abstract

The paper portrays psychological harassment representation in American reality TV shows, “Dance Moms”. The paper examines how incidents involving psychological harassment are perceived, interpreted, and represented in relation to the American reality TV shows. It highlights the pragmatic analysis of psychological harassment in American Reality TV show. Furthermore, it is concerned with examining the pragmatic strategies employed in RTV shows to find answers to the following questions: 1.What is the pragmatic structure of psychological harassment in RTV shows? 2.What are the forms of psychological harassment resorted to by the harassers? 3.What are the most impoliteness pragmatic strategies are used to issue psychological harassment in the selected reality TV show?. The present study aims at: 1. Discovering the Pragmatic structure of psychological harassment in the selected reality TV shows 2. Finding out what the are the forms of psychological harassment are in selected reality TV shows. 3. Investigating the most impoliteness strategies used to issue psychological harassment in the selected reality TV shows.

Besides, the selected data which is the reality TV show “Dance Moms” can be characterized by the use of discrimination, bullying and use of offensive language that carries some realistic portrayal of it since it encourages the participants to bully and humiliate in order to get more viewers.
