Abstract

The aim of this study is to examine the impact of insecurity on rental values of residential properties in Bori neighbourhood, Rivers State. The study adopted a qualitative descriptive study and a total of 393 Questionnaire was administered and 378 of the Questionnaire was retrieved, representing a response rate . The data gathered was analyzed using statistical tools such as frequency and percentage distribution table, 5 Point Likert scale, so as to assist in assessing the significance of each factor.  The finding revealed that factors that affects rental values of residential properties in Bori neighbourhood are kidnapping, cult war leading to destruction of lives and properties, burglary and armed robbery. The study therefore, recommended that concerted efforts are required on the part of both the government and the people in the area in mitigating the various factors leading to insecurity in the area.
