Abstract

The importance of reading in developing good writing skills cannot be overemphasized. Reading has become a herculean task in today's world, especially with the rapid advancement of technology. Reading provides knowledge of grammar rules, sentence structure, vocabularies, spellings, etc. The knowledge of these enables the individual develop good piece. The position taken here is that learners should be made aware of the connection between reading and writing by their parents, teachers, and even curriculum planners through learning materials made available to them. It was recommended among others that school administrators should ensure that there is a reading club in schools which should be made compulsory for all learners. This will help learners develop a healthy reading culture which will in the long run, make them good writers.
