Abstract

Destination Marketing Organizations (DMOs) together with communities actively employ event tourism as their essential marketing approach to boost visitor numbers while improving their tourism standing. Events serve three major functions which include economic, cultural and environmental priority. The platform provides destinations with effective tools to develop brand identity as well as involve residents and maintain environmentally sustainable growth. Event tourism research shows growth in studies about types along with their functions and effects however interdisciplinary assessments of this field remain underdeveloped in academic circles. This article examines conceptual models constructed by leading scholars including Getz, Ritchie and Crouch and Pine and Gilmore as well as others. Several analytical models understand event tourism by analyzing it through marketing principles and psychological analysis as well as sustainability concepts and experiential economic frameworks. The research demonstrates why event tourism needs to combine its focus with environmental science research as well as digital technology implementation and behavioral analysis to handle current problems and possibilities. The paper demonstrates event portfolio management excellence through an analysis of Edinburgh Scotland's successful work. Through its strategic approach as well as diverse list of festivals and digital marketing techniques Edinburgh has established itself as a globally celebrated festival destination. The study indicates that combining different research approaches enables event tourism studies and practice to become more adaptable while ensuring sustained development potential for tourist locations. The study promotes academic and industry partnership along with new research methods to advance studies on emerging event formats including virtual and hybrid events. Event tourism will maintain its position as a force for developing tourism activities and resilient destinations by following the proposed research strategy.
